Senigallia trench erosion

End of February 2015 the works of maintenance of the beach were concluded near the sea mouth of the Fosso della Giustizia. The project was carried out by the Municipality of Senigallia (AN) with the collaboration of the Local Maritime Office, Polytechnic of Marche University, under the direction of Professor Alessandro Mancinelli.
This work is a part of the defense project started already in 2013 on the stretch of beach near the east pier and the lighthouse and the waterfront called "Ciarnin".
The solution is a permanent structure designed by placing four lines of STOPWAVE geobag made of nonwoven needle punched, UV resistant. The size and the final weight of each element are as following: about 120 x 160 x 40 cm filled with sand on site and 1,2 tons.
The purpose of the project is to prevent the erosion of the beach during the flood of the the river.
A total of 384 geobags STOPWAVE were employed on this project, including 318 for the embankments, 26 for the structure of the "heads" and 40 at the base of the ditch.
During the press conference on February 27, 2015, the Municipality of Senigallia, which last year had already checked the tightness of geobags STOPWAVE during the heavy sea storms, said as "The solution is simple but in the same time efficacious." University Polytechnic, represented by prof. Alessandro Mancinelli, confirmed that "The geobags are very strong, flexible and adaptable to the place."
